ok, so I just got out of the shower in this pic, so my hair is nice and wet, but they came to get me to say I could hold her for the first time, and really did Mia Kate know I looked liked this???

So this is me the morning of the C-section fixing Emma Grace's hair for school. Just wanted you all to see my BIG BELLY - literally I look like I am about to drop a basket ball out from under my shirt.

Well.. She's here and has a name! We have quite a week. I think we have probably felt every emotion possible this week! Let me start with Elated!!!
Mia Kate Dunavant has born on Monday, October 27th at 12:11 PM. She weighed 7lbs, 3oz (the same as EG). 21 1/4 inches long! I told you guys she was gonna be long! She is perfect in every aspect. The minute Randy and I saw her, we knew she was a Mia. For you that don't know, Mia comes from my brother, Micheal. We searced for girl names that come from Micheal and this is what we came up with. Although I knew this is what I really wanted to name her, I really wanted to see her first. I wanted to make sure she looked like a Mia not an Ally. And, yes Emma Grace is calling her Mia Kate! She hasn't even mentioned Ally at all.
Well, although Mia is perfect now, she had a tuff start. She had fluid on her lungs when she was born therefore her oxygen levels were off. Basically she couldn't breathe well with out the help of her "oxygen tent". Her respiration rate was also way high (in the 100s, should be 40-70). So, she had to stay in the nursery until Thursday. Her oxygen levels were fine on Wednesday but due to her respiration rate, she had to have an IV port for sugar water and a feeding tube for milk! WOW- I am so shocked to come in from recovery and find out I couldn't even see my baby. After about 2 hours in my room, I asked to be taken to her. At this point, 3 hours post -op I couldn't really walk so I took the wheel-chair. I couldn't hold her but did get to touch her and talk to her! Later that night, I got up and actually walked to the nursery, which I did every couple of hours throughout the day and nights. By Tuesday afternnon, I got to hold Mia in my arms. She was still connected but could come out of the tent for short periods. Poor Emma Grace kept asking "why she couldn't hold her". So, my sweet nurses let me take her right outside the door to let EG touch her for the first time. She was a little hesitant b/c she has an IV port and tube coming from her nose. But, nonetheless she had met her baby sister for the first time! On Wednesday, she came to my room for short periods with a nurse. On Thurday, the little sweetie made a come around and was released to my room! We all got to hold her, I got to feed her and she was free from all contraptions. She is perfect - We are all recouping well and settling into being at home. Emma Grace went to Alabama on Thursday and is having the time of her life! Randy is recovering from a cold and I am just basting in the happiness my two girls bring to my life. As well as my sweet hubby. By the way, the C-section was great!! I am not regulated on my blood thinners yet but hopefully this week I will be shot free!
